Privacy Policy — Tapatan

Overview

Tapatan ("the App") is an ancient Filipino strategy board game. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

In short: We do not collect personal information. We do not require you to create an account. Your game data stays on your device. We do not sell any data to third parties.

Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device to provide a seamless gaming experience. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers:

Game Statistics — wins, losses, draws, streaks, XP, and level progression
Settings & Preferences — AI difficulty, sound/music settings, language, selected theme, and appearance mode
Achievements — a record of achievements you have unlocked
Purchase Status — whether you have unlocked the premium bundle (ad-free + all themes)

You can clear your game statistics, settings, and achievements at any time through the App's Settings screen by using the "Reset Data" option. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data completely.

Online Multiplayer

When you use the online multiplayer feature, the following data is temporarily processed on our server:

Room Codes — randomly generated 4-character codes to connect players
Game Moves — the moves made during an online match
Connection Status — whether you are connected or disconnected for reconnection support

This data is stored in memory only and is automatically deleted when the game room expires (30 minutes after creation) or when the server restarts. We do not log or permanently store any multiplayer session data.

Server Analytics

Our server tracks basic aggregate metrics to monitor service health. These are anonymous and stored in memory only (not persisted to any database):

Total number of games played
Number of currently connected players
Peak concurrent player count
Total connection count

These metrics contain no personally identifiable information and reset whenever the server restarts.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

RevenueCat — used to manage in-app purchases (the premium bundle). RevenueCat may collect anonymous transaction data and device identifiers as described in their privacy policy.
Google AdMob — used to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and ad interaction data as described in Google's privacy policy. Purchasing the premium bundle removes all ads and stops AdMob data collection.

No Personal Data Collection

The App does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

Names, email addresses, or contact information
Location data
Photos, camera, or microphone access
Contacts or address book data
Browsing history

Children's Privacy

Tapatan is a strategy board game suitable for players of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since the App does not collect personal data from any user, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.

Data Security

Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, the risk of data breaches affecting your personal information is minimal. All online multiplayer communication is transmitted over secure WebSocket connections. In-app purchase transactions are handled securely through Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and RevenueCat.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Delete your data — use the "Reset Data" option in Settings to clear all locally stored data
Opt out of ads — purchase the premium bundle to remove all advertisements and associated ad tracking
Uninstall — removing the App from your device will delete all locally stored data

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
